Stepping Stones to Insurance Broker™
This programme is a specialist training programme enabling the individual to enter into a career as a protection/insurance broker. This can be taken prior to or after completion of Stepping Stones to Mortgage Broker™. This must be undertaken prior to Stepping Stones to Business Protection Broker™. A minimum of CeMAP/CeFA1 is required prior to attending this course and a “Fit and Proper test is carried out on the individual applicant”.
The Protection Academy is run over 5-days and the timings for each day are as follows:
- Monday: 10.00am – 5.30pm
- Tuesday: 9.30am – 5.30pm
- Wednesday: 9.30am – 5.30pm
- Thursday: 9.30am – 5.30pm
- Friday: 9.00am – 4.00pm
Lunch will be around 1.00pm and will last for approximately 45mins.

- Introduction to and use of Synaptics – sourcing the appropriate product and provider
- Policy Basis
- Term Assurance Products – Life Assurance, PHI, Critical Illness cover, Family income benefit plans etc
Wednesday
- PremierUK – Quote comparisons – research tool for protection related research
- Presentation from Pioneer Friendly – PHI provider (unique day 1 cover)
- Introduction to Trusts
- Towergate insurance/GI products – car insurance, pet insurance etc
Thursday
- Understanding KFI and KFD – How to use them
- Health related Products – Health Sure presentation
- Presentation from Friends Provident
- Mortgage Payment Protection Insurance
- Synaptic Case Study – Josephine York
Friday
- Protection Sales Process – Learning in action
- Presentation from L&G – special attention to buildings and contents and MPPI cover and research tool.
- Norwich Union – company presentation
- Observe filmed role play assessment
- Summary and Close
Day 6 – To be mutually arranged
- Professional competency assessment (filmed)
All in-house activity followed by in-field LIVE observations.
As an Insurance broker you will have the whole of the market to research from to provide your clients with the most suitable advice for their needs.
You will need: an up to date laptop, Synaptics research system costs £15 per month and Data Protection Licence £35 pa.
You can select from an annual fee of £495 with 80% commission or pay a monthly (entry level fee) of £235 +VAT and be in receipt of 100% of the commission.
