Promising Financial Services Initiative".
As the ifs Financial Innovation Awards enter their tenth year, they are now firmly established as one of the most prestigious awards ceremonies in the financial services industry.
Entries from organisations across the globe combined with a rigorous judging process mean that those who are shortlisted, and especially those that win one of the award categories, can take pride in having truly excelled in the industry. Put simply, the awards provide a great opportunity for innovators in the financial services industry to gain recognition for their efforts.
The 10th annual Financial Innovation Awards took place on Wednesday 21 November 2007 at the New Connaught Rooms in Covent Garden. Over 500 finalists from the financial services industry gathered together to receive the plaudits of their peers and celebrate their achievements.
The awards were hosted by GMTV's weathergirl and 'Loose Women' presenter, Andrea McLean, and an enthralling after-dinner speech was given by Matt Dawson. Matt is one of rugby's heroes and was part of the team that took England to victory in 2003 Rugby World Cup. He is also team captain for the BBC's 'A Question of sport'.
There were over 22 categories this year and some new entries, all of which impressed the judges and made it a hard choice to decide on the winners. The entries were of a very high standard and demonstrated what the awards are all about - Innovation, Change, and Excellence.
Judges
The Judging Panel 'combine extensive academic knowledge and industry expertise, with over 100 years combined experience in the fields of Financial Services, Insurance and Technology. Many have been involved in projects such as those nominated here for awards and have experienced the hard work, time, effort, highs and lows that such undertakings entail and therefore bring a wealth of relevant skill and knowledge to the Judging Panel.
Their job is not an easy one. Every year the competition becomes stronger and fiercer, and they are faced with a collection of high quality entries, all delivering excellence, practical thinking and successful implementation - a reflection of the ever evolving global financial services industry. It is their job to seek out the most innovative, the best executed and leading edge entries from the finalists, those that most merit a Financial Innovation Award.
The ifs Financial Innovation Awards are held by the ifs School of Finance, an international organisation incorporated by Royal Charter, providing qualifications to the financial services industry since 1879. Today theifs School of Finance has over 80,000 students in 100 countries.
